YouTheatre- The Inaguration

YouTheatre Inauguration

The YouTheatre Inauguration happened on SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2014.

A warm family and friends affair, the audience comprised of well wishers, the NGOs being supported and representatives from the MasteClasses of Shiamak and True School of Music.

It was beautiful, memorable and easily the most special show we had because it was the last show we shared the stage with my beloved cocker spaniel Cookie.

YouTheatre- Dance for Change

YouTheatre started on an auspicious note. With the Little Theatre foyer showcasing some incredible busking talent, you entered the hall with a smile on your lips and humming a tune!

The evening started with Welfare of Stray Dogs where after a film was shown on them brought their adorable dogs on stage! Oh, to adopt them all... there were claps, smiles and awwwws all 'round!

Then we moved on to the incredible AngelXpress. directed by Tejas Bhatt this beautiful musical had the audience singing along.

Adhar had the audience on their feet and cheering. The childish innocence of the 'special children' from Adhar brought back the inner child in us.

And then kranti closed the show with a fabulous play and personal stories.

A magical evening...

YouTheatre- Act for Change

YouTheatre- Act for Change

For Act for Change , Balancing Act Productions staged the new set of short plays- Stop.Look. Listen. The 3 plays covered incredible real life stories- covering female infanticide , the terrible Mumbai rape case and the sheer isolation felt by many in cities causing them to commit suicide.

The audience lapped up the plays , sat backstage and talked to the actors and director about the inspiration behind the show and gave us the highest form of appreciation possible- we got a standing ovation!

YouTheatre- Grand Finale

YouTheatre- Grand Finale

With ShiamakThe True School of Music  and Divya Palat  holding Masterclasses, the Grand finale consisted of every single workshop participant getting on stage and doing a theatre, music or dance piece. People who'd never been on stage before learnt a new art and made a small but significant change in their lives!

We also saw two original scripts on change being showcased- one by Bishal Rungta and the other by Saudamini Kalra. Saudamini  won the YouTheatre Award for BEST PLAY for 2014 and was given a plaque and an inscription on the rolling trophy. She also won Rs. 15000  to kick start her theatre career. We wish her luck!
